Sedation Dentistry

It’s normal for children to feel a little nervous about visiting the dentist. That’s why we offer safe and gentle sedation dentistry to help make dental care a calm and positive experience. Our goal is always to keep your child comfortable and relaxed, even during more involved treatments.

Nitrous Oxide (“Laughing Gas”)

One of the most common and trusted options for children’s dental sedation is nitrous oxide, often called “laughing gas.” This mild sedative has been safely used in dentistry for over a century.

With nitrous oxide:

  • Your child stays awake, alert, and able to respond, but feels calmer and more at ease.

  • The gas is delivered through a small mask placed gently over the nose.

  • Effects are felt within minutes and wear off quickly once the mask is removed.

  • Normal activities can be resumed almost immediately after the visit.

Nitrous oxide is especially helpful for children with dental anxiety, strong gag reflexes, or difficulty sitting still. It reduces stress while allowing us to complete necessary treatment safely and comfortably.

Safe, Effective, and Parent-Approved

If your child feels anxious about dental visits, ask about sedation dentistry. We’re here to make every visit positive, relaxed, and stress-free.

The American Dental Association (ADA) recognizes nitrous oxide as a safe, effective way to ease children’s anxiety during dental treatment. Parents can feel confident knowing:

  • There are no lingering side effects.

  • Most kids don’t remember much about the procedure.

  • The visit feels easier than expected, for both kids and parents!
